Safety of your Loved Ones

When you leave your loved ones at home, especially children and the elderly members of the family, CCTV helps to monitor their safety. You can always check on them from anywhere you are. CCTV always sends the surveillance footage to smartphones and computers. Therefore, the surveillance footage of your loved ones will be sent directly to you from wherever you are. In the event of accidents, you can immediately offer help at any time. CCTV come in handy to assist in keeping your loved ones safe while you are not around.

Helps in Preventing Crimes

CCTVS are a major deterrent of crimes against homes or any of your properties. When intruders notice your home is under CCTV surveillance, they are likely to think twice before committing any crime in your home. The intruders are also highly likely to keep off your home for good. For the few brave burglars who manage to break into your home, their faces will be captured by CCTV, and the evidence can be used to prosecute the burglars. CCTV may not stop a crime from happening, but it can play a huge part in deterring crimes against homes. This is why most people prefer the use of CCTV to protect their homes.

Monitor Who Comes to Your Home

When you are not expecting a visitor, you would be reluctant in answering the door in your home. Not everyone is welcome in your home, as cases of insecurity rise every day. That is where CCTV comes in. When placed strategically outside your home, you can monitor anyone around your doorstep or anyone knocking on your door. You can then decide whether to respond to the knocks or simply ignore them if you spot a stranger, sales representative or any other unwelcome guests. CCTV helps keep off any disturbances in your home.

Brings a Sense of Security to your Home

A home that is under CCTV surveillance all the time makes you feel safe and protected. The fact that any insecurity against your home will be recorded on video gives you a sense of security in your home. Many people have adopted the use of CCTV in their homes in an effort to feel secure in their homes.

Monitor Children around the House

CCTV can help you monitor your children in different rooms around the house. You can keep them under surveillance while in a different room to know if they need your attention at any time. For older children who are running around the house, you can stop them from accessing off-limit areas around the house. This helps prevent minor household accidents from happening in your homes while in different rooms with your children.

Can be Used as Nanny Cameras

It is not that easy to leave your baby at home with a babysitter. You would be worried about the progress of your child or how they are relating with the nanny, especially if you have a new nanny. You would want to know how the new nanny is treating your child. That is why CCTV is very important. Using nanny cameras around your house will allow you to monitor how your baby is doing under the nanny’s care. It will help you know the kind of care your baby is getting, and then you can decide if it is the best or you need a different nanny.

Monitor what Goes on When you are not at Home

Each time you leave the house, you are always uncertain of what goes on around your house. CCTV helps capture all the happenings around the house. This will help you know if your workers back at home are doing their duties. You can find any explanation to what happens around your house in your absence.

CCTVs give you Peace of Mind

This is the most popular reason why CCTVs are widely used in many homes. Knowing that your entire home is under video surveillance all through the day will give you so much peace. You will feel safe around the house and monitor everything that happens in your home. Many people feel at peace when they are aware of what happens in their homes when they are not around, which is why more and more households have installed CCTVs.

Are you the kind of person who worries about the safety of possessions and family? Would you like more peace of mind when you lock the door and travel to work? Perhaps a discount on your home insurance might be very enticing. Or would you like to be able to give the impression you’re home when you’re not? All these can be solved by installing a home alarm system and it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. You can do it yourself or bring in a professional to do it for you. To help you evaluate whether it’s worth the expense let’s look at some of the advantages.

The Advantages of a Home Alarm System

Proven deterrent – There have been a number of studies undertaken relating to the effectiveness of home alarm systems as a deterrent. Evidence shows that homes with alarms installed can make a significant difference to household crime in an area. And not just for those who have it installed. Residents have found a decrease in crime across the local area where the majority of properties have an alarm.

Peace of mind – This is an obvious benefit of installing a home security alarm. The minute you lock the door and leave home you can get on with your day without the worry of someone breaking in. If you’ve left children and animals at home unattended, you can also watch what’s going on. We promise we won’t tell if you don’t. Many of the modern systems available allow you to watch via remote cameras. So you can see the inside and outside of your home using a mobile phone.

Control electrical items and utilities – one useful feature of many alarm systems is that they allow you to switch on and off various electrical items around your home. Say you’re going away for a couple of weeks. It’s possible to programme the alarm system to switch lights on and off, giving the appearance someone is still at home. Thermostats can also be controlled remotely via the alarm system. Thereby allowing you to keep a tighter control of the utilities in your home. Possibly even saving money in the long run.

Reduced insurance premiums – Many household insurance companies will ask whether your home is alarmed when quoting for a policy. This is not just because your home is less likely to be burgled. It’s also so that a discount can be offered is a recommended alarm system has been installed. And that discount could be as much as 20%. It may be a requirement that the system is installed by a professional. But this isn’t always the case and some companies allow homeowners to install it themselves.

There’s a huge array of different home alarm systems to buy. It’s possible to get one to suit pretty much every budget. If you’re a little DIY savvy you could install a system yourself. But there’s always the options of getting a professional installation provider to do it for you.

Your business is your creation because you dreamed, strategised, planned, and created it. Typically, you spent your time and life thinking about what the best plan for your business is, how you’ll grow as well as nurture it for success. Just like a parent who is responsible, you understand that your business needs security and protection.

Maybe you have already invested in products of electronic security like closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV cameras), but during off hours, you’re still experiencing intrusions. If your experience is the same as the aforementioned scenario, it’s time for you to invest in security gates. Here are some of the reasons why security gates are essential for business security:

Physical Deterrent

Security gates make it harder for intruders to enter your business premises and acts as a deterrent as well. Not many criminals will want to experience the trouble associated with getting past security gates let alone trying to access the property afterwards. Rather than having a security at your commercial premises’ door, a gate presents one more obstacle, making it harder for anyone to access your business.

Save Money

With other available commercial security measures such as mobile patrols, your salary expenses can end up being extremely large. However, when you have electric security gates that are designed to automatically open to authorised personnel only, you’ll end up saving an unimaginable amount of money.

Limiting Access to Your Business

Your business is only going to enjoy peace of mind when you know everyone that enters or leaves your business premises. With a barrier and a gated perimeter security fence, you can limit exits and entrances to your property in several distinct places.

Greater Control

You might need the assistance of your security guard, but additional features such as a camera and intercom can afford greater control, ensuring all parties remain protected.

Protecting Your Building and Property Image

A gate is essential not only to guard against potential criminals, but also to keep unwanted intruders outside the usual hours of operation. It’s obvious that you want your business to look clean, safe and professional. When your parking lot does not have a gate, it will invite unwanted passers-by. However, when you have a security fence that’s coupled with a security gate, it protects your business against vandals and those looking to engage in a delinquent behaviour. Also, it makes sure that your business remains free of litter from any passers-by.

Return on Investment

Whether you’re protecting an industrial property or an office block, the presence of security gates safeguards any valuable inventory and removes the probability of having to replace your assets in case a robbery occurs. The end goal of all security products is protection. Given that you’re a business owner, it’s obvious that you’ll have many valuable assets that you want to protect. This can be divided into three key categories: supplies, products and people. Your greatest asset is your employees.

If your employees know that they’re protected and safe in their work environment, they’ll have a peace of mind and start focusing on the thing that matters the most: their work. Your security gates can offer protection for all your cameras plus other electronic security products. Also, your security gates guard against robbers and vandals covering, stealing or breaking your expensive security equipment.

Reliable Convenience

Although you cannot always avoid cases of human error, with electric security gates, you can lock them automatically in case a member of staff happens to forget doing so when leaving. That convenience means that you do not have to get out of the vehicle to open your electric gates.

Aesthetic Options

Together with the probability of making your business appear impenetrable, you’ll also improve its aesthetic so that it impresses your customers and onlookers. Electric gates that come with detailed styling or ornate features can make your business look much more impressive.

Legal Compliance

If you have chosen a professional company to install the security gates for you on your business, you can be assured of compliance with all the relevant legal requirements. First and foremost, the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) will prosecute anyone who is responsible for any electric gates if they’re not abiding by EN regulations or they aren’t up to scratch.

The Health and Safety Executive is the body that is responsible for the enforcement, regulation and encouragement of safety and welfare, workplace health and also for research into occupational risks.

In this modern era, lots of security threats and needs always emerge. As you are thinking of effective methods that you can use to protect your business, keep in mind that protecting your physical business premises is really of great importance. Installing a security gate in your business is one of the most effective methods of providing business security.

It is essential to have the right security measures in place to keep your stock secure and protect your employees from intruders, vandals or thieves. One way to do this is to install CCTV cameras on your property. Following are 7 good reasons why your business needs CCTV systems.

1. Effective at deterring would-be criminals – if your CCTV cameras are in plain sight of everyone, with warning signs that you have these systems protecting your premises, criminals will think twice about breaking into your property.

2. Reduced insurance premiums – insurance companies consider premises with CCTV to be more secure than those without, which means that your insurance company will be confident that there is less chance of your company being broken into. Having CCTV installed at your premises can therefore reduce your monthly premiums.

3. Reduced stress levels for you – there is no doubt that having CCTV cameras keeping an eye on your premises when you’re not there will give you peace of mind and reduced stress levels. No more worrying about thieves and vandals when you lock up at night or when you’re away on holiday!

4. Provides more safety for your staff – staff safety in the workplace should be your top priority and having CCTV cameras installed in strategic places, is an easy yet effective way to make sure that they are all safe. CCTV will not only see that your day staff can work safely during the day, but your night staff too, should they have to work overtime. These systems will not only protect your staff against uninvited criminals, but against fellow co-workers too, who show threatening behaviour.

5. Catches criminals red-handed – there are many times where criminals are too busy breaking in and stealing to notice that there are CCTV cameras watching their every move. This is when they are caught red handed whilst busy with their criminal activities. The cameras provide concrete proof of what they have done. Should you take these intruders to court, the footage from the CCTV cameras will be evidence enough to have them arrested and sent to prison.

6. Increased productivity – apart from using CCTV cameras to keep your premises safe from intruders, they also offer in-house benefits too, especially where productivity is concerned. Employees tend to work harder when they know that their boss is watching them, so with cameras in place, you are sure to see a significant increase in productivity. In addition to this, CCTV cameras can save time too, since they will allow quick and easy communication between the different departments as well.

7. Access control – one of the best things about CCTV, is that it gives you full access control. Your security cameras will allow you to see at all times, who is entering or exiting your property and will give you the ability to deny access to anyone who you feel looks suspicious, thus keeping your business and staff safe before any criminal activity could possibly take place.

[Safeguarding your Home – PDF]

Homes without security measures put in place are 5 times more likely to get burgled than the ones that have simple security. Strong locks and good window locks can make a very big difference. Home safety must be among your top priorities when you are moving into a house. Here are some of the things you can do to protect your home:

1: Lock Your Windows

The latches (catches) manufacturers put on windows are not always effective, at times they are flimsy. You should replace them with key-operated levers or locks to help improve your security. Also, you might consider inserting tempered or laminated glass to have a stronger hold. 23% of home burglaries happen through the first-floor windows, but do not forget about securing your second-floor windows as well.

2: Secure Your Doors

Approximately 33% of burglars use the front door to enter homes. Hence, you should perform an inspection of your front door as well as all the doors around your home. Ensure the hinges are protected, the wood isn’t hollow and the frames are strong. If the door has a mail slot, make sure that someone cannot reach through it and unlock your door.

Avoid doors that come with glass near the doorknob. The front door can be a great focal point in your home, but do not sacrifice your security for a beautiful view. If your door does not have a deadbolt or a peephole, install them as soon as possible to help make your door even more secure.

Make sure you always lock your windows and doors when you are leaving the house, even when you are out in your garden. Remember to double-lock your UPVC doors (lift handle plus turn key). Hide all your keys out of sight, away from your letterbox. Keep in mind that someone can use a device to hook your keys through the letterbox).

3: Meet Your Neighbours

Neighbours can be an important first line when it comes to defence against home invasions. Your neighbours know the area, and they can help by keeping an eye on your house when you are away. If anything, suspicious happens in your area, one of your good neighbours will inform you.

4: Buy a Security System

Your home should have a security system, whether it is a fully monitored smart system or a basic do-it-yourself installation. Evaluate the needs of the area you reside and choose a system that you are comfortable with. Examples of the basic you can consider include smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, motion sensors for the windows and doors as well as an alarm. As part of prevention measures, install a visible burglar alarm because a burglar alarm alone won’t prevent entry to your house.

5: Find Your Resources

Check for any neighbourhood watch schemes in your area, find information by contacting your local police, and try to find out what other resources that your area has to help in home safety. Some of the police forces can send an officer over your home to give you some tips on how to protect your home.

6: Eliminate Hiding Places

Bushes and shrubs may make your house attractive, but they also provide a burglar with a good place for hiding. Trim down plants and trees close to your house that burglars can use as a hiding place. Instead, you should opt for smaller flowers. Also, ensure the fences around the garden are in excellent condition and avoid privacy fences.

7: Install Good Outside Lighting

Although the majority of burglaries happen during the day, when you are at work, you should still secure your house at night. Makes sure you place lights around your home. For added protection, you should use lights that are equipped with motion sensors. When a motion light turns on, it indicates that something is happening. An intruder is less likely to break into your home if there’s a spotlight on them.

8: Add Security Signs

Most security providers include window decals with security packages. This helps to deter any potential burglar. Put them up if you have them. If you do not have a security system, you should weigh the advantages and disadvantages of fake signage. The belief that there is a security system in your home can sometimes be as effective as having one.

Remember that the goal is not to make your home completely break-in proof, it’s simply to make your home a less attractive target to burglars than the other homes in your area. Look at the houses in your neighbourhood and adjust accordingly.
